You can become vegetarian

There are many benefits to becoming a vegetarian but do you know why? So how will it change things in your life and for the planet? The simple truth is that one person can make a difference even if it is only a small scale to hundreds of other living things. Health is one issue which you cannot escape from as it is the consumption of meat that is the number one cause of heart disease in the United States.

Many of today’s heart conditions would not be so commonplace if people did not eat so much food with high levels of cholesterol, such as dairy products and eggs. Statistics for heart attacks clearly indicate a dramatic rise in the probability of a heart attack for someone who eats meat compared to a person who is a vegetarian; in fact they are four times as likely. As for people who are pure vegans, it gets even lower: they have less than 1/10 the chance of having a heart. A healthy heart is not the only ‘health benefit’ to becoming a vegetarian as there are other reasons too.

Cancer is another area where reductions are seen as meat contains a number of preservatives which have been linked to this disease. Hormones used in animal feed are obviously not present either in vegetarian meals, which have proved to create hormone problems in people. Another substance, lactose, is also missing from their diet which has causal links with digestive conditions. The fact is people who become vegetarians have healthier lives; they can also feel comfortable knowing that they are not responsible for the slaughter of any animals.

The organization Vegan Out-Reach claims that the number of animals killed to feed the average American citizen during their life is in excess of two thousand seven hundred. In the course of just a few short years you could stop the death of hundreds of animals by changing your life this way. To help even further and stop the number of battery hens and dairy cows from having to suffer degrading conditions you could stop drinking milk and eating eggs. Well after reading this it is obvious the easy answer is yes it is better to become a vegetarian. This commitment matters to each individual for their health, the health of the planet and those of the animals which will not need to be slaughtered to provide food.
