Muscle Milk Review – Why Does it Taste So Good?
There are a lot of protein supplements available nowadays for those trying to lose weight or build larger muscles. These protein supplements can be fast release or slow release. Which protein powder you should seek depends on your needs and goals.
The foremost thing you had better do is taste a sampling from each protein powder prior to purchasing one. If you are interested in more common flavors such as chocolate and vanilla, then check out the supplies at your local gym and check if there are sample packs or single servings of the various flavored protein powders. Perhaps you are thinking it is foolish buying a protein powder based upon taste, but trust me, there is a huge difference between protein powders. Why would you buy a flavor that you choke on whilst you drink it? You many also get stuck with one that is so lumpy you swear you are going to choke on a lump of dry powder. You must refuse to blow away your hard earned cash on a protein powder that tastes so ordinary you end up buying something elee and discarding the rest of the tub. Been there, done that! Be sure to do the taste test.
Luckily there is a fast way to pick a protein powder that’s guaranteed to taste good. Pick any flavor of Muscle Milk! Yes, I’m sure you have heard about the taste, its true. If you google “best tasting protein powder”, you will find many a muscle milk review showing that Muscle Milk dominates the protein market in terms of taste and quality. Muscle Milk is simply yummy. You’ll have no trouble consuming the protein powder as many times as you need to. You will find yourself having extra shakes because it tastes so good. Muscle Milk also mixes very easily too. In the past I have thrown away a close to full container of a different brand as it just resisted mixing. I even blended it for about 5 minutes and still found lumps. Muscle Milk comes in many flavors too besides chocolate, in fact there is close to 30 flavors, cake batter is the new favorite.
Those who are serious about building muscle will understand how crucial it is to find a perfect protein supplement, which is all about choosing the right protein blend for you. If you don’t know much about protein, you need to understand that there are many types that all work differently. I think the best options is to choose a protein that combines various protein sources so that you have both fast and slow release proteins in your system. Combining casein and whey is the best pick according to most studies – so be sure to check the label for this.
So should you choose muscle milk as your protein supplement? I have had great results with this product and so have my training partners, however it can be different for each person. I would suggest you read some muscle milk reviews from people who tried this product and observed the results, then you will have a better understanding if it is right for you.

The Different Kinds of Wine Storage
A fine feast would not be finalized without having a drink of fine wine to go together with it. If you frequently hold dinner parties at home, or you feel like spicing up a normal dinner with red or white wine, you can do so if you have your own wine storage in your own household. If you open a bottle of wine and don’t drink all of its contents, then you need to store it in a fresh, dry place. Just put the cork back on and you can store the wine in the refrigerator for about three days.
If you intend to keep the wine for longer than three days, rather than just re-corking the wine, a stopper should be positioned on top of the bottle. Then, it should be aired out by means of a pump for a longer storage time.
For many years, wine drinking has become increasingly fashionable. The way you store your wine is particularly important. The moment you open a bottle of wine that has been stored as it should be, it can be magnificent indeed, while on the other hand, opening a bottle of badly stored wine can be quite a disappointment. Usually, drinking a bottle of wine that was inadequately stored is much like drinking vinegar
For wine lovers out there who have a big number of wine bottles, or cases to keep, there are a number of effective ways that you can use to care for and keep your wine for total enjoyment.
If you have a considerable collection of a variety of wines, you can have them stored in an offsite storage. Commercial wine storage services charge a astonishingly small fee to let you sit back and be comfortable at home while they take care of your wine bottles stored at the ideal temperature and humidity.
On the other hand, if you want to have easy access to your wine collection right in your own household, you can do so by having your own wine storage system. Remember that the culprits to an imperfect wine storage are wrong or inadequate heat, humidity and light. Check that light does not enter your wine closet, cellar or refrigerator.
It is also important to maintain the temperature at a steady degree. For red wines, the perfect temperature is 10 to 18 degrees Celsius while white wines are best maintained at 7 to 15 degrees Celsius. If you have any doubts, check with the vintner or the person from whom you purchased the wine to know the exact temperature range to store the wine.
The direction that wine is stored is important as well. If the wine stays in contact with the cork throughout storage, the cork won’t dry out. If the wine doesn’t stay in contact with the cork, the cork could dry out and let air into the wine. You should also make every effort to keep the wine out of the light, as light can mess up any type of wine. Light causes the wine to age ahead of time, making it in your best interest to store wine in a dark location.
To prevent damage to the wine from sediment, you should also store wine in a place that is free of vibration. Vibrations are by no means a good thing for wine, seeing that the sediment grows to be unsettled and can devastate the wine or shake it to the point where it tastes awful.

Entertaining at Home – More Affordable Than Eating Out
As the state of the economy remains unsteady and families and friends are more cautious about their spending choices, many people are going back in time and revisiting the days of quality family time at home versus dining out and spending money on other entertainment.
Today more and more people understand the benefits of staying at home and still having fun with their own forms of entertainment, such as potluck dinners, card games, and family game nights. Inviting friends and family to your home not only allows for quality reconnection time, it is also a great way to still have fun for the budget-conscious. During such tumultuous financial times, there is a lot of worry and depression over money. By instituting free family-friendly fun, you can keep the money blues at bay and focus instead on how to have fun without involving cash.

There are so many opportunities to entertain in the home and traditionally, food is always at the center of the fun. Think about all of the memories you have as together with your family. Many of the memories probably involve dinner of some kind, such as during the holidays. Whether it is a small social gathering requiring finger sandwiches or a potluck dinner where each person brings a special dish, food can really bring people together.
Because the cost of entertainment is still high and rising, start thinking of fun ways to bring family and friends together at your own home. There can be family-friendly events or adult-only gatherings planned. Create a menu based on your guest list and do not be afraid to experiment with creative new dishes. If you find you enjoy trying new things, invite some close friends over for some cooking fun. Skip the Caterer – Do It Yourself
Making your own food for kid’s parties and other gatherings can also yield a huge savings, especially if you are accustomed to having such parties catered, even if that just involves having some pizzas delivered. While it may take a little extra preparation time, cooking for your own gatherings is more cost-effective than having someone else do the work. The money you spend on the ingredients can reduce the overall cost of entertaining to half, depending on the menu.
Even a simple dinner with family can be a wonderful experience that brings people closer and still keeps a budget on track. So get cooking. Dare to be different and find your creative side, using cooking as your outlet and your loved ones as your source of unending entertainment.

Praline Pecans For an Exquisite Treat
Praline pecans are a wonderful treat any time of the year, and it remains a favorite give-away during holidays and other special occasions. In the South, particularly in New Orleans, where it is widely popular, it is their tradition to serve praline pecan during Christmas parties and have them given as presents, too.
Praline Pecans of the New Orleans
Praline pecans in New Orleans are described as sweet disk made up of sugar, butter and pecan nuts. The moment you visit the largest city of Louisiana, you truly have to take a bite of their mouth watering pralines. Believe it or not, the praline pecan that you will find here literally melts in your mouth. Although if you trace the origin of pralines, you will know that it originated in France, in this place, it has grown popular and luckily residents of the city have embraced the delicacy as their own.
In Europe, they use almonds or sometimes hazelnuts to integrate in their praline. In Texas and Louisiana, pecan nuts are the most commonly used variety of nut. Aside from pecan, cream is also added to the mixture. But when you are in the United States, praline pecan is commonly associated with the largest city of Louisiana, located in the southeastern portion, the New Orleans. The city is well known worldwide for its food and among its specialty are the praline pecans. It is made up of granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, cream and the reason for its having an unbeatable taste—pecan.
Praline Pecan’s Secret Success
Though it is not difficult to make praline pecans, with the right touch, of course, they are still considered New Orleans’s delicacies. With simple ingredients it uses, you wouldn’t believe that it can taste elegantly. The cream added from the original praline recipe and the pecan nuts makes them yummy and quite addictive. To this date, no other candy confection available in the market can match the rich flavor of praline pecans. There are a few who still wish to learn to make them. From the makers of praline, they have two things to consider for would-be learners:
1. Learn when would be the right time to remove the mixture from the heat.
2. Learn when beating stops and to start to spoon the praline pecan mixture to the waxed paper.
Practice is still the best tip to make the best praline pecan. It will take a few times before perfecting the skills in cooking them. Though they are quite easy to make, buying them from stores and internet sites can be better, too. It is just a matter of choosing the right product.

Chocolate Pecan Pie: The Healthy Dessert Option
You would think that a slice of chocolate pecan pie is so decadently scrumptious it must be bad for your health. Not really. You probably think there can be no other reason to eat this delicious dessert except for its wonderful taste. That’s where you’re wrong. Eating a chocolate pecan pie has health benefits you don’t realize.
Take the first ingredient in the pecan pie as an example. Obviously, the pecan is a nut. Nuts are good sources of protein, unsaturated fats (oleic acid), and more than 19 vitamins and minerals like vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, calcium, potassium, zinc, and magnesium. Research suggests that 1 to 2 ounces a day of nuts, like pecans, can reduce the risk of heart disease, especially if taken with a low cholesterol diet. Sterols found in pecans are reported to lower cholesterol levels. Pecans rank among the highest foods with anti-oxidant capacity. It is actually the nut which contains the highest amount of antioxidants. Pecans are rich in Vitamin E, flavonoids, and ellagic acid, anti-oxidants linked with anti-cancer effects and prevent disease-causing oxidation in the body. These phytochemicals appear to protect against colon, stomach, and rectal cancers. That slice of chocolate pecan pie may not be that bad after all. And for those people on a diet, pecans are included in the 35% of calories that you need to get from fat. Pecans have low carbohydrate content and unsaturated fat that can help you keep the weight off longer. It is even a good source of fiber. One slice of a chocolate pecan pie can give you your day’s equivalent of nut unsaturated fat and fiber.
The chocolates in the chocolate pecan pie have their benefits too. Cocoa or dark chocolate has antioxidants, like flavonoids, which have anti-cancer effects. Some studies also claim that chocolates produce a slight decrease in blood pressure. Remember the times you ate chocolates to feel good after a fight with your boyfriend or mother? Chocolates contain the stimulants theobromine, caffeine, tyramine, and phenylethylamine. The Tryptophan in cocoa lessens anxiety.
Chocolates are also said to release endorphins, which reduce the sensation of pain. The claim that it is an aphrodisiac is not yet validated, but probably comes from the effects it produces such as reduction in anxiety and an energy boost.
Every pecan pie needs its eggs. Eggs are a good source of protein. Not only do they contain choline for the brain and nervous system, they also have lutein which prevents age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. And contrary to most opinions, eating an egg a day does not significantly affect your cholesterol levels. Each chocolate pecan pie also contains only 3 eggs. If you eat only a slice from the 8 that the pecan pie is divided into, you only get less than an egg with that slice. You do the math.
The combination of these ingredients in a chocolate pecan pie is not only good for the senses, but also for your health. Just remember, though, that as in everything in life, moderation is the key. Eating a slice of chocolate pecan pie is good if done once a day a couple of times a month. It becomes unhealthy if taken more than that.
So the next time you take a bite out of that chocolate pecan pie, remember what it can also do for your health. Visit Tanner’s Pecans and Candies for the best pecan pies and desserts.

Healthy Dark Chocolate
When people think of chocolate the thought that comes to mind is that sweet creamy taste. What most don’t think about or know about is the health benefits. Now the chocolate that studies are showing that is healthy in small quantities is dark and not made with milk or drank with milk. Why? Good question.
The reason being is that milk neutralizes the large amounts of antioxidants present in dark chocolate. These antioxidants are what eat up free radicals, those are the destructive molecules that are shown to be present in heart disease and other illnesses.
Recently there were two studies done to see how much the dark chocolate affected mild high blood pressure.
The first study consisted of six men and seven women who were just diagnosed with mild high blood pressure. The ages of these individuals were between 55-64. The average blood pressure was 153 over 84.
The top number is called the systolic, the pressure of which the blood enters the heart. The bottom is called the diastolic, the pressure of which the blood leaves the heart.
Every day over the course of two weeks, they ate a 100-gram candy bar. Now a 100-gram piece of chocolate is about 480 calories so they were told to balance this caloric intake by not eating other foods similar in nutrients and calories. On top of this the the group of people were divided by half were given dark chocolate and the rest got white chocolate.
Those who got the dark chocolate had a noticeable drop in their blood pressure by an average of 5 points on their systolic number (top number) and an average of points on the diastolic number (bottom number). Meanwhile the ones’ who got the white chocolate had no such drop in their blood pressure.
The second study was conducted on twelve healthy people, consisting of seven men and five women. Their ages ranged from 25 to 35.
On different days they were given 100 grams of the dark chocolate. Then the other days they were given 100 grams of the chocolate with a small glass of whole milk, or with 200 grams of milk chocolate.
An hour later their antioxidants were measured in their blood. The ones’ who ate just the dark chocolate had the highest level of antioxidants. They also had the highest levels epicatechin in their blood. Epicatechin is a healthy compound found chocolate.
Meanwhile the group who ate milk chocolate or dark chocolate with milk had the lowest epicatechin levels.
Now chocolate is made from plants, therefore it contains a lot of the health benefits of dark vegetables. Chocolate gets it’s benefits from the flavonoids in it.
These flavonoids act as antioxidants. Flavonoids help in the blood pressure because flavonoids help in the production of nitric oxide. Which in turn help balance certain hormones.
In other words what experts are discovering that a small amount of dark chocolate introduced into the diet is beneficial. But too much of a good thing is necessary good either.
There are those calories to think about. So add a small amount of the darkest chocolate you can find or handle since the darker the chocolate the more flavonoids the better.
But remember to balance those calories but cutting out foods similar in nutrients and calories.

Seasoning a Wok With Ease
Seasoning a wok is the best way to prepare for convenient and conventional cooking. It is more of an art and less of an earthly task.
Woks are prone to rust and buildups of sticky foods, especially if not seasoned properly before usage. Seasoning a wok permits the food to glide smoothly over its surface. Iron and steel woks should be seasoned properly before use.
Stainless steel types need to be treated because they are less porous than iron. Corn and peanut oil are also ideal cooking oils for seasoning because they possess a high heating point. Some even prefer to season woks with the use of an oven.
Here are the things needed to season a wok:
• Barbecue brush or a heat-proof cooking brush
• Paper Towels
• A bottle of peanut or corn oil.
• Stove top/gas stove
• Excellent ventilation
To start the process, two methods for seasoning are used. The first method is to season a new one or to re-season an old and rusty wok. Below are steps you can follow:
1. Scrub thoroughly the inside and outside surfaces using soap and a steel wool scouring pad. It will remove the new wok’s manufacturer’s protective coating or even rust on an old wok. The initial coating of a wok prevents rusting during retail display.
2. Rinse with water.
3. For some coatings that are hard to remove, place the wok on a stove with water. Boil until the protective coating dissolves. Pour the water out and scrub with soap and steel wool.
4. Next, heat the wok over high heat until the edges are nice and hot. It will change from a shiny steel gray to blue, then purple to red. Then it will turn into black.
5. Smoke will appear. Turn on the ventilation fan.
6. Using a brush or a sheet of wadded-up paper towel, dip it into corn oil and coat the inside surface with a thin layer of oil. You can tilt the oil in all directions. This can make the surface shine upon each application.
7. Reduce the heat to low volume and let it sit for about 15 minutes for it to absorb the oil. Color changes will continue in time, especially with frequent usage.
8. Turn off the heat and allow cooling down onto room temperature before you start the next round of seasoning. Wipe out excess oils with a paper towel when it cools. Do not use cold water when cooling the wok. It can damage and undo the process. Hence, cool the wok with boiling or very hot water. Wipe it with a sponge.
9. Dry the wok thoroughly and store.
10. Repeat the process for about 3 to 4 times more. A beautiful black sheen will happen with proper usage.
Another method is to brush the wok with polyunsaturated cooking oil on the surface and place it in an oven. This will take about four hours at 150 degrees Celsius. Every hour, brush the wok with oil around the sides and continue heating. Woks with plastic and wooden handles are not advisable to put inside an oven.
For continuous care
Do not scrub off the protective layer of carbon on the surface of the wok. Scouring pads and detergent soaps are the worst enemies of a seasoned wok. It is best to wash it with hot water and clean the surface with bamboo brush. Dry this with paper towels and lightly put vegetable oil coating before storing.
The bottom part of the wok can be scoured with steel wool so as to take away the burnt materials or residue. If there is an accidental burning of food inside the wok, scour it out and re-season the wok again.
Woks that are new may cause a slight metallic taste onto the first two or three dishes. The metallic taste disappears after several usages. A wok with proper seasoning can make perfect omelets without sticking. For better results, the process of seasoning a wok should be done with patience.

How to Choose the Right Type of Wok
A wok is a versatile kitchen tool that can be used for stir-frying, steaming, braising, stewing and even deep frying. Choosing the right type of wok would require you to be familiar with the different stove types, materials, shapes and sizes of woks.
Woks are bowl-shaped utensils that evenly spread heat. It only makes use of less oil. It ensures that the food is tossed back inside the pan and not on the stove during stir-frying.
Most woks have a diameter range of 30 cm to 2 meters or more. The shape of woks depends on the type of stove or burner being used. You can measure the size and even the depth in diameter.
Here are the two defining wok types that must be considered in order to get the right wok suitable for you:
Traditional Round Bottom Wok
Round bottom woks are designed for “over the fire pit” type of cooking as well as on top of a gas stove. It makes food easier to toss, preventing grease fire by minimizing the splatters. On the other hand, round bottom woks can damage the heating elements when heat is reflected back
When cleaning woks, the round bottom types should not be cleaned after each use. The continuous shape enables the scraping out of food.
Flat Bottom Wok
A flat bottom wok works best with an electric stove. It is designed to balance well with modern stoves, providing high heat for quick stir-frying. Most flat bottom woks have long wooden handles, making it easier to move and tilt it.
In contrast, a flat bottom wok can produce uneven heat, making food get burned easily. It is difficult to toss food and it can scratch wok surfaces. Aside from this, it must be quickly cleaned after each usage so as to avoid foods getting stuck on some parts of the wok.
The best wok shape is a medium concave wok rather than the shallow and deep concave wok. The heat from the wok would mostly concentrate at the bottom part, if you will be using a deep one. If it is too shallow, only the center of the wok would become heated.
Moreover, the material used when choosing a wok is very important. Stainless steel, carbon steel and iron are material choices that are gaining popularity over the years. Below are the features that can help you compare each:
Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel woks are great for steaming and boiling purposes. It does not need to be seasoned, posing no risk of accumulating rust.
Stainless steel is the right material when it comes to appearance. It can be scoured with steel wool in order to restore the newness after each use. On the down side, it poorly conducts heat and tends to reflect the heat back to the stove.
It is best if you choose a stainless wok with a slightly flat bottom. This is since it can provide a greater contact with the heating element of an electric stove. Stainless steel is recommended for camping and for outdoor usage because of its lightweight feature.
Cast Iron
An iron wok has a natural non-stick surface once it is seasoned. Cast iron is also good for tossing and stirring. You can use warm or hot water in washing the wok so as to avoid the risk of ruining the seasoning of the wok. Thus, the iron wok can become damaged when it drops on the floor.
Carbon Steel
Carbon steel woks are better conductors of heat. However, the food may stick on the sides as compared to the others. Most Asian cooks still prefer the carbon steel type because it is inexpensive. It can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance.
Most cooking wok types are used for deep frying, roasting and even boiling. There are Chinese woks, electric woks and non stick type of woks you can choose from.
Chinese woks are traditional woks used by most Chinese chefs. This is while electric woks are a proven great partner for electric stoves. Non-stick woks can provide easier clean-ups but this requires less oil.
Due to the different varieties of cooking woks in the market today, it is best to become familiar with each type to know what can best fit your kitchen and cooking style.

Cooking With the Basic Wok Accessories
A wok is one of the primary cooking vessels which can provide an extended cooking surface. Most woks come with basic accessories, making cooking easier and productive.
Woks evolved centuries ago as a result of fuel shortages. It is commonly used in stir-frying which can withstand high temperatures while cooking. Buying the right accessories for your wok will not only bring out a good cooking experience for you, but will also make cooking more fun. Here is a list of accessories that comply with cooking using your wok.
1. Wok Lid/Cover – A wok lid or cover comes in dome tops or flat tops. Some would even have deep or shallow types. Lids should be able to fit the rim of the wok. Aside from this, it should be high enough to cover the whole chicken underneath.
2. Spatula – A spatula is basically used in stir frying, for stirring, tossing and the shifting food inside the wok. It is a long-handed utensil that has a flared, wide and slightly curved metal blade. The wok spatula is especially designed so to avoid wok scratching. A wooden spoon can also be another option. This is without harming the nonstick surfaces.
3. Steaming Basket – This is a round basket that holds the food over steaming water. The steam allows the food to become cooked. There are 2 types of steaming baskets, the bamboo baskets and metal baskets. Bamboo baskets are tightly woven wooden bamboo strips. It is much better than metal because it absorbs the moisture, allowing the steam to circulate inside. Metal baskets can spoil the taste of the food because of the dripping water. This can be avoided by wrapping the metal steamer with a thin towel. Steaming baskets comes in various sizes and are stackable.
4. Wok Ring – A wok ring is used so as to stabilize the weight of the round-bottom wok on the stove. Two kinds of wok rings would include the open and close sided, along with a series of holes venting around the ring. Open-sided rings are best suited for gas stoves while closed sided rings are suited for electric stoves.
5. Wok Skimmer – A wok skimmer is a wire mesh strainer that has a long bamboo handle (also comes with metal handles). It is used for taking out wantons, noodles, dumplings and deep-fried foods from boiling water. Aside from this, it is ideal for serving mussels, clams and vegetables. The wire mesh allows the “dripping-off” of the oil from the food.
6. Wok Ladle – A ladle is the most commonly used utensil of most Chinese chefs. This is used in adding water stock and other seasonings while cooking. It is also used in scooping ingredients, instead of using a measuring device.
7. Bamboo Brush or Cleaning Whisk– A bamboo brush is especially used for cleaning woks. Other cleaning alternatives are nylon or plastic scrubbers.
8. Wok Rack – A wok rack is a semi-circular rack which is used for hanging one side of such woks. It also works when draining water or oil while preparing other dishes. It can also keep the food warm.
9. Wire Steamer Rack – Wire steamer racks fit in woks, for steaming purposes. Examples would be braising and smoking.
10. Tongs – Tongs are used in removing and maneuvering hot food from woks. It comes in different styles, materials and length.
11. Deep-fry Thermometer – A deep-fry thermometer is used in deep frying. Its purpose is to assure the right temperature while cooking. Hence, the bulb of the thermometer should not touch the bottom part of the wok so as to achieve the most accurate reading.
12. Chopsticks – Two-thin sticks are used in cooking or mixing of ingredients inside a wok.
Other accessories would include the portable gas stove, clay pot, perforated ladle, paella pan, wok trolley, etc.
Woks are considered as one of the world’s multifaced cookware pieces. This is along with the necessary accessories that can help one cook with ease. These custom utensils are made as a part of wok cooking.

Tea For Two and Two For Tea
Tea is one of the world’s most important drinks, and is certainly one of the UK’s greatest cultural icons. After all, what could be more quintessentially British that afternoon or high tea? Or of sitting down to a cup of tea and a slice of cake? Although traditions differ from family to family and region to region, it is possible to argue that tea plays a major role within the social fabric of British society; for example, it is often served during social engagements, at breakfast, during the giving of good news, and as an accompaniment to some relaxing pastime.
And although we are familiar with tea in both its loose and bagged forms, the preparation of tea has taken other forms in previous centuries. Initially prepared as a brick, tea has also been ground into a fine powder. Tealeaves prepared in this way are turned into a drink by emptying the tea directly into the cup before adding the water. After the liquid has been added, a bamboo whisk is then used to mix the tea and water into a deliciously frothy brew. Originating from China’s Sung dynasty, this method of creating tea was later incorporated into Japanese culture and forms the basis of the renowned tea ceremony, which exists to this day.
Although originating from China, the Camellia Sinensis plant is now cultivated in a number of different countries, including Japan, Sri Lanka, India and Korea. The four main true types of tea are green, white, black and oolong, a partially oxidised tea that is somewhere in between green and black tea. However, other types of tea, such as yellow tea and post-fermented tea are also available.
This fine beverage was introduced into the UK during the 1660s, following the marriage of King Charles II with princess Catherine of Braganza. Although initially introduced for medicinal use as had been the case in China the drink became a popular beverage among the aristocracy by the time of the final years of the 17th century. In particular, the importance of tea increased significantly between 1690 and 1750. It is now known that, when not drunk to excess, tea has a number of beneficial effects upon the body.
While it cannot be denied that tea contains tannins, in addition to the presence of methylxanthines such as theobromine which is also found in chocolate – and caffeine, which has been associated with a number of unpleasant side effects, tea is also incredibly good for you. Tannins have a great antioxidant effect, and tea is also a source of theanine, an amino acid with powers to reduce levels of stress.

All You Need to Know About Coffee Percolator Types
A coffee percolator is a type of pot used for brewing coffee. Different types of percolators are available depending on their source of heat.
The word “coffee percolator” was derived from the word “percolate,” which means “to cause a solvent to pass through.” The percolator is often used in camping and many outdoor activities.
A coffee percolator works by keeping the boiling water up through a tube, then poured on coffee grounds. This process is repeated until the desired result is achieved.
First put water in the carafe and follow it with coarsely ground coffee beans in the basket. The basket should be covered before heating the coffee. The basket is then used in order to keep the coffee dry, from being deposited inside the container. The glass top determines the amount of coffee done. Once the process is completed, you can discard the coffee grounds.
Percolators have three versions, namely electric, stovetop and microwave percolators.
• Electric Coffee Percolator is the most common type using electricity. It gives out a more consistent brew by stopping it automatically when the coffee is done. It then switches to a warming mode when completed. An electric percolator has a built-in heating element that can be cordlessly used.
• Stovetop Coffee Percolators can cause over-boiling, and therefore a tendency to release the bitterness of coffee. This requires more careful usage.
• Microwave Coffee Percolator is more effective, using 42% less electricity.
Three of the popular percolators are the Faberware FCP412 Cup Percolator, Cuisinart 6-12 Cup Classic Electric Percolator Model PRC-12 and the MEDELCO PK008 8 cup Glass Stovetop Percolator
The two basic types of coffee percolators are the pressure type and the gravity type percolators.
Pressure Type
The pressure type is usually made out of metals that can be screwed together when used. It has three main sections:
o Lower Section – The water section.
o Mild Section – The place for the raw coffee grounds.
o Upper Section – The place for the resultant coffee.
Some versions of the pressure type have no upper section. The upper tube can be bent in order to deliver the coffee directly into the cup.
How it works.
The pressure type percolator is then placed on a heat source. If the water reaches the boiling point, a steam is formed. It creates a kind of pressure and forces the water into the coffee grounds through a tube. The mixture passes to the upper section for a concentrated coffee result.
Gravity Type
The gravity type percolator continually cycles the boiling brew through the grounds. It uses gravity to acquire the desired strength of coffee. The components comprises mainly of:
o A small chamber filled with water at the bottom.
o A vertical tube from the bottom chamber to the pot top.
o A perforated chamber with a coarsely grind coffee at the end of the tube.
How it works.
The pot is placed on a heat source with water. The water should be below the bottom of the coffee chamber where it can pass through the vertical tube over the perforated lid. The water is then seeped through the grounds, leaving the coffee chamber. It will drop back into the lower half of the pot and force it upward. The process repeats as it approaches the boiling point. Finally, the perking action stops.
Different types of coffee percolators are enjoyed with great popularity. It is the favorite brewing method that is both convenient and easy to use. Despite the different varieties that have fallen out with some coffee lovers, coffee percolators still offer a distinct brewing quality and nice aroma of coffee.

Coffee Percolators: Give Fresh Hot Coffee
The basic principle of these coffee percolators work is about bubbles of mixture. Although more innovations have come out, the process of brewing coffee remains as conventional and lasting.
A percolator is a fashionable pot mostly used by outdoor lovers in brewing coffee. It is often used by people with strict environmental concerns because it uses less water, even without electricity. Here are some things you need to know regarding these coffee percolators.
First, before the process starts make sure that all parts of the percolator are cleaned. Then assemble it before preparing the coffee. Place coffee beans on the brew basket then add water in the carafe (the jug). As a guide, one tablespoon of ground coffee matches one cup of water.
A percolator has two chambers, one on top and one on the bottom. The top part is for the ground coffee and the bottom is for the water when it boils. The water rises through a small tube which goes to the chamber on top. A typical percolator sound is heard when water rises. The sound stops when the process is completed. Repeat the steps until the desired consistency is reached. The mixture is strained and coffee falls on the bottom chamber.
Avoid reboiling water to avoid bitterness in coffee. Throw out used coffee in the basket before pouring the mixture to cups. The concentrated coffee mixture is now ready to be served.
In order to achieve a well brewed coffee, air bubbles should be formed in boiling water at the bottom. It will then rise naturally. The pump stem tube base is actually designed for the concentration of air bubbles and geared towards the opening. When water reaches the top of the pump stem, discharges are spread on the cover to disperse water. The desired mixture will then become stronger each time the water filters through the grounds. It will move more oils into the infusion. This process only takes about 5 to 6 minutes.
Different types of percolators have different heating mechanisms. It could be electrical, stove top or microwave. Heat sources can be natural fire fit for outdoors and stove tops for the indoors. A percolator uses pressure to achieve a well-balanced coffee making process. Most of these machines nowadays use glass to be able to view the process.
One of the perks of modern percolators is its capability to boil ground coffee sans manual intervention. There’s little room for mistakes.
As the market makes way for more percolators, strict temperature control is being implemented in using such devices. A piston, French press (a familiar sight in coffee houses of the orient) and drip brewer are two of the most popular form of brewing tools. These are used to force the water over the beans and extract liquid.
Good quality coffee can be achieved with the right preparation and process. If coffee ground and water are measured properly and consistently, it will be easy to produce freshly brewed coffee. Choose the right type of percolator that will suit your needs and lifestyle.

Peanut Butter Fudge to Remember
The endearing love affair with peanut butter can best be described in the volume purchase of over than 800 million pounds each year. Peanut butter is every child’s desire to eat peanut butter, and a childhood without peanut butter is like not having good childhood experience at all. Many love to eat peanut butter and many love to indulge in peanut butter fudge as well. If one loves to eat peanut butter, then he is more likely to love peanut butter fudge too.
THE peanut butter fudge available at Tanner’s Pecan and Candies is so far the best tasting among all peanut butter fudges available in the market. It is also guaranteed to be fresh as these peanut butter fudges are packed and sealed in small tins. Foreign materials to contaminate the peanut butter fudge inside the tin cans are unlikely to get inside.
Peanut Butter Fudge, Peanut Butter, and Nuts: The Health Benefits
In recent years, peanut butter and peanut butter fudge have been revealed to be components of a healthy diet. In 2002, a study conducted by Harvard showed that women who ate peanut butter and nuts regularly less like to have a type 2 diabetes. As reported in the medical world, type 2 diabetes is amongst the fastest-growing pandemic in the U.S. In the 1990s, there was a 50 percent jump of persons diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Each year, there are about 200,000 Americans who die from the complications—which include stroke and heart disease—brought by diabetes. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition December 1999 issue had an article which reported that Penn State researchers have found that a diet or food rich in nuts and foods that are high in monounsaturated fats reduced the risk of heart disease by 21 percent. Compared to a more traditional low-fat diet, monounsaturated fats noted a 12 percent drop.
All about Peanuts
A one-ounce serving of peanuts supplies about 14 percent of the daily recommendation for protein and 8 percent of fiber. It also contains 25 percent of vitamin E, 20 percent of niacin, 12 percent of magnesium, and 10 percent of copper, folate, and potassium. That handful of nuts also contains about 170 calories. Women who ate more peanut butter showed a lower risk from becoming diabetic. In the same study, it was found that women who reported to eat a tablespoon of peanut butter a day, at least five times a week, had 21 percent chance of reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes compared to those who rarely eat peanut butter or those who never ate it. For those women who consumed five ounces of nuts a week noted a 27 percent decrease in their sugar level as compared to those women who have never, or almost never have eaten nuts. The diets of peanut butter and peanut eaters showed to be higher in vitamins A and E, iron, calcium, folic acid, zinc, magnesium, and fiber while nuts with load-full of monounsaturated fats have been found to lower cholesterol.
In July 2003, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a qualified health claim for peanuts, pecans, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, and walnuts, for use in the product’s package labels and advertising. Once packages of nut products meet the FDA’s requirement, it can now carry the following claim:
”Scientific evidence suggests but does not prove that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.”
Never be worried if peanut butter and peanut butter fudge are high in fat. It won’t contribute much to one’s weight gain because the fats found in there are healthy fats. It’s how much or the quantity of peanut butter and peanut butter fudge that makes one fat.
With all the scientific studies, a person even on an strict diet can still have a taste of the lip-smacking peanut butter and can have a some mouth-satisfying peanut butter fudge treat.
It’s nice to go on diet especially if you continue to enjoy eating the mouthwatering peanut butter fudge from Tanner’s Pecan and Candies.

Pecan Pralines: Making That Pecan Taste Great
Anyone can make pecan pralines. The recipe is so simple that even the most uninformed in the kitchen can follow the 7 straightforward steps in making pecan pralines. But, there is a great deal of difference between making pecan pralines and making pecan pralines that taste great.
You can start with the standard recipe that everyone uses for pecan pralines. All you need are several available ingredients and you are ready to start.
Prepare 2 cups of brown sugar, ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of evaporated milk, 2 cups of pecan pieces and halves, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of chilled butter cut in pieces. Put the sugar, milk, and water in a saucepan and mix. You can choose to butter the sides of the pan so the contents won’t stick. Heat the mixture until it boils, all the while stirring continuously to dissolve the sugar. Keep on doing this until the contents of your saucepan attains a soft ball consistency. You will know that you’ve reached this point when a drop of the mixture in chilled water forms a ball yet evens out when lifted up with the fingers. If you have a candy thermometer, you can check the temperature to see if it is between 2340 to 2400. Remove the mixture from the heat. Add the pecans, vanilla, and butter. Stir the butter and vanilla in thoroughly. Spoon the candy onto the wax paper. Add a little hot water to the mixture if it becomes too thick to transfer to the wax paper.
Getting that perfect pecan praline may take several experiments. Even following this standard recipe can give different results. Some people may have to eat batches upon batches of burnt, too-soft, too-thick, or especially dry pecan pralines before they get that perfect pecan praline. Others find it easy to whip up perfectly delicious pecan pralines without making more than one attempt. Each person also has his or her own preference that’s why some key ingredients are added to taste. There also are variations in the key steps involved to create that perfect praline.
There are an infinite number of ways to make your own distinctive pecan pralines. You can try adding bourbon or dark rum. You can use heavy or sour cream instead of evaporated milk. You can cook the butter with the sugar. Even toasting the pecans, which brings out the natural buttery caramel flavor, can also work. You can make creamier pecan pralines with light corn syrup or you can add cherries or marshmallows. You can add flavor with coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter. You can pour the praline mixture over graham crackers and bake this in the oven to make praline bars or squares. Pecan pralines can even be used in muffins, cupcakes, cakes, or cheesecakes. There is no limit to where pecan praline mixtures can take you. Mixing pecan pralines with any of these desserts can create many an interesting outcome. The natural flavor of pecans allows this. You’ll just have to be imaginative and enough of a sweet tooth to have the patience to try things out.
Tanner’s Pecans and Candies has delicious pecan pralines, pies, and other sweet treats. Pecan Pralines never tasted this good.
Pecans just got a lot better with the Pecan Praline! Tanners Pecan provided this article about Southern Pecan Pralines for you – http://www.tannerspecan.com
Pecans: A Tasty Addition to Your Diet
Pecans. Just a little goes a long, long way. Whoever said that had to know what he was talking about. Nuts are quite filling and take a long time to digest so a handful of pecans really does go a long way. Having a couple of roasted pecans to add to your diet keeps you feeling full longer on food that is low-carbohydrate and high in the good kind of fat.
Most nuts are a dieter’s dream come true. If you want to have a bite to eat that will last you for hours, order something with almonds. If you want something with a lot of protein and fiber, eat a handful of peanuts. If you want something high in anti-oxidants, grab a salad with roasted pecans. Or simply, if you want something that has all those characteristics rolled into one, eat a handful of roasted pecan nuts on a daily basis.
Most people have this wrong notion that eating nuts is fattening. What most people do not realize is that this is because almost all the nuts in their diet are misplaced. Most often than not, nuts are added to the wrong ingredients in the wrong dishes people eat. This wrong addition results to incompatible effects. Thus, results are not as good as when nuts are put in all the right places.
Have you ever noticed that a lot of desserts have some kind of nuts in them? Take ice cream for example. There are butter pecan, brownie walnut fudge, cashew, and pistachio flavors of ice cream. Pies also have their share of nuts. They contain pecans, walnuts, and almonds. Often, nuts are also coated in sugar or added as cake ingredients.
Of course, having these desserts in moderation does not do any harm. What people need is more variety in their diet, more ideas for dishes with nuts. Some people forget that nuts can be eaten raw and do not have to be placed in pies or other sweet treats to be delicious.
One of the easiest ways to incorporate nuts in your diet is to have pecans. Just put the pecans on a pan and shove it in the microwave or oven for a couple of minutes. Raw or roasted pecans also make appealing additions to turkey stuffing. Fish or chicken coating can even be made from roasted pecans. Different nuts can be used in soup instead of bread crumbs or croutons. Roasted pecans can be added to non-fat yoghurt for an early morning boost. You can also add a little more character to your otherwise bland breakfast by lightly scattering a small cluster of roasted pecans to pancakes and waffles. Muffins or bread can be baked with pecans or other nuts inside. Hot or cold cereals with nuts offer a nutritious and filling breakfast. You can also add an assortment of nuts to your popcorn while watching a movie. Small slices of roasted pecans give more character to many dishes including salads, steamed vegetables, and pasta.
So if you’re watching your weight but still want to indulge in some delicious food varieties, make sure you incorporate roasted pecans in your diet.

Praline Pecans and Pecan Nuts: Sweet Delights For All Ages
Your brother just called up asking you if he could come over in the weekend together with his five kids since your sister-in-law is out of town for a business trip. You could not afford to say no; after all you have not seen your nephews and nieces for a couple of weeks. And your children are excited as well to be spending their weekend with their cousins.
As the host, it is imperative that you prepare food for your guests. Aside from the meals, it is important that you store lots of goodies for the kids good for the whole weekend. Since they are very active, sweets should be included in your stack of food. And never ran out of candies in your candy jars.
New Delights to Surprise Your Guests
Obviously it’s not the first time that they will visit you. There have been series of visits within the year. Although you haven’t heard any negative comment with regards to the food you have been serving to them, you feel there’s a need for you to rediscover the ways on how to surprise them. Here’s how:
• In serving snacks to your guests, never forget to serve your newly discovered favorite round-shaped candy, praline pecans. Surely, they will love it as you had. Just one bite of a praline pecan will entice them, wanting to grab some more.
• Praline pecans are also good options for desserts, so you might as well serve some during lunch and dinner.
• A box of pecan nuts can be a good company while you chit chat with your brother in front of the TV and watch a good movie, instead of having the usual popcorn.
• You should encourage the kids to grab more of the praline pecans rather than have a bag of potato chips. Tell them a praline pecan is more healthy than chips with full of added preservatives.
Soon after, you realized you ran out of praline pecans in your stack of food. And so you have to buy more packs of them because your guests are expecting to have more of it. You can’t blame them for that, because nobody can resist to this sweet temptation.
The weekend is over, and so your brother has to go home as arranged. He thanked you for your hospitality and generosity. Your nephews and nieces gave you a big hug for they really enjoyed their weekend stay with you. Your kids thanked them also for all of them had a great time together. You even sent them some packs of praline pecans and 2 boxes of pecan nuts because the kids asked for it.
That Monday, your sister-in-law called you up to say thank you. She told you that the kids really enjoyed their weekend stay, especially the food. And they could not wait another visit in your house just to eat praline pecans and pecan nuts. She even asked you where she can buy those candies that her kids wanted her to buy tonight.
For easy access on where to buy your favorite praline pecans and pecan nuts, Tanner’s Pecan and Candies will be a good place for you to order more boxes. At Tanner’s, there are more variations of praline pecan goodies with beautiful packages, which make it perfect as gifts.

The Red Wine Secrets of the French Paradox
American scientists and other health experts from around the world are puzzled as they try to discover the “secret” behind the French Paradox. The problem is that the French consume three times as much saturated fat as Americans and one-third less French people die from heart attacks. The French also have much less obesity than America and other Western countries.
The French eat rich foods high in saturated fats, such as cream, butter, pastry and rich cheeses. But they also consume red wine and olive oil. Researchers have found olive oil to be a heart-healthy source of fat. However, the olive oil the French consume does not rule out the high amounts of saturated fats they eat, and therefore does not properly explain the French paradox.
Red wine may be the reason. Some scientists believe the French habit of moderate red wine drinking with a meal is the key to French paradox. Studies show that people who drink red wine regularly have lower rates of cancer, Alzheimers, and heart disease.
Red wine and red grapes contain special flavinoid antioxidants called resveratrol, that can offset some of the effects of gluttony, say researchers at Harvard Medical School. Resveratrol is shown to help lower glucose levels, help your liver, and promote health benefits to the heart and blood vessels.
Red grapes are one of the richest sources of resveratrol flavonoids, which is why red wine is more heart-healthy than white wine, beer, or other spirits.
Resveratrol is known for its ability to protect plants from bacteria and fungi, and researchers are now finding out that it helps us by preventing the negative effects of high-calorie diets, and it has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer potential.
Researchers are finding that antioxidants seem to trigger receptors in your upper intestine that tell your brain you’re full, researcers are finding. Lab animals fed the extracts also decreased their food intake by about 8%. This could explain why Resveratrol- a powerful antioxidant- seems to produce a weight loss effect that many people’s experience when they use it.
One recent study showed that resveratrol reverses the coronary and obesity effects of a diet high in fat and calories in mice. When large doses of resveratrol was given to lab mice, the mice ran twice as far on a treadmill than they had previously and also had a reduced heart rate. The mice also lived longer than mice who had not received the resveratrol.
The findings led to a marked increase in red wine sales in the United States despite the fact that the amount of resveratrol is very small in most red wines in the United States, because of the way that most grapes are grown and processed for wine.
If you are ready to add these beneficial nutrients to your diet, it’s important that you find a source that is powerful, natural and bio-available (easily absorbed and used by your body).
I found a great whole food supplement that includes these ingredients. It is called Genesis™ from Symmetry Direct. Each single ounce of Genesis™ is guaranteed to contain the health benefits of resveratrol equivalent to one whole bottle of red wine, plus the hydroxylated polyphenols found in one fresh pomegranate.

Sonoma California Wine Tours For Zinfandel Lovers
When it comes to Zinfandel, Americans are just plain crazy about both the red and white versions, making it the third most crushed grape varietal in the U.S., right behind Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. When it comes to growing and bottling zins, California is king, so whether you love a nice refreshing glass of slightly sweet White Zinfandel on a hot summer day, or you prefer the intensely fruity, spicy red versions there’s something for everyone in California. With good weather all year long, anytime of the year is a good time to tour some of the best places in the world for growing this American favorite.
Originally an obscure Croatian grape varietal, Zinfandel came to America early in the 19th century. It’s grown in many of California’s grape growing regions from the Cucamonga Valley in the far south to the northern border with Oregon. From any major California city, you can be enjoying a Zinfandel experience in wine country in no time.
Although the Zinfandel grape has been around for a long time, White Zinfandel didn’t come into existence until the 1970s. Sutter Home Family Vineyard in Napa Valley is widely credited with creating what became known as “blush wine” when they made a rosé of Zinfandel but stopped fermentation a bit early to ensure it had a touch of residual sugar. Today, inexpensive white zin far outsells its pricier red counterparts and tends to be produced by large wineries like Beringer and Sutter Home.
When it comes to red zins, there are a wide range of styles, quality and price. They tend to have high alcohol content and when very ripe, make good desert wines with a flavor profile somewhat like Port. Three of the top California regions for red zins are Amador County in the Sierra Foothills, Sonoma County and Paso Robles.
Amador County is the ideal spot to spend a few days checking out California Gold Rush country and sipping hearty red zins, while still only an hour away from the city of Sacramento. Tasting rooms here are mostly small family businesses where you can often talk to the winemaker, pet the family dog and enjoy a picnic lunch. And yes, you can still pan for gold and see traces of the rustic Wild West atmosphere that inspired writers like Mark Twain.
In Sonoma County there are many good micro-climates for Zinfandel including the Dry Creek Valley and Rockpile areas. Make the town of Healdsburg your starting point for a driving tour of numerous outstanding zin producers. If fine-dining is on your agenda this is also the perfect destination to experience some of northern California’s best cuisine.
If your California vacation plans take you to the Central Coast region, be sure to stop in Paso Robles to taste Zinfandels and Zinfandel-based red blends that will knock your socks off. Although wine has been made in the area for a long time, the winemaking focus began to shift away from inexpensive wines to high-quality boutique wines in the 1980′s and today some of the most exciting wines in California are made in Paso Robles.
When you head for sunny California, a good Zinfandel wine tasting tour is never very far away. Sample a few on your next visit and you’ll know why the American love affair with Zinfandel is likely to remain a lasting one.

Choosing the Best Coffee Maker
Are you having your breakfast with your best buddy? If you are a coffee lover, then you should be one of those many people who are taking their breakfast with their pal – the coffee maker. This happen almost every morning and when these people feel like taking another good cup of coffee. Needless to say, coffee makers are coffee lovers’ best pal. Because of this, choosing the coffee maker shouldn’t be taken for granted and must be chosen with care. After all, you will be spending money for acquiring it.
One of the features needed when deciding which best coffee maker you should find, is the quality of the product. If you have been researching for a while, then you should note that there are some consumer reviews that there are number of coffee makers available in the market are not good. They are differentiated by the results they are producing. Meaning, not all coffee makers can produce a great tasting cup of coffee. All of them have different great features, but they don’t allow you to know which brand of coffee is the best.
Here are some of the guidelines you would like to consider in choosing the best coffee makers:
Looking for the Best Filter
Noting which type of filter can do wonders, that is why it should be taken into account when finding the best coffee makers because not all have the same type of filters. Some includes a basket type of filters, and other boasts in having a cone shaped type of filter. There is a huge difference with these two different types, and that is the time of the coffee grounds have been in contact with the filter. More reviews are saying that a basket type of filter provide a longer contact time between the coffee grounds and the water. So if you have chosen a basket type filter, it is better to choose a basket ground that is large enough to contain water. If you are concerned with the spillage, then choosing the best coffee maker with a cone shaped filter is the best choice for you. We all know that every now and then, there are new features emerging on the market. Now, there is another type bearing the name gold tone filter, many deemed that this type is highly capable of producing a richer taste cup of coffee.
Pick your color
It seems that the color of the coffee maker have nothing to do in looking for the best coffee makers. Believe it or not, having the best coffee maker with the best color can produce a great tasting coffee taste. It’s psychological though, and this idea came from the fact that if you find the coffee maker best because of its color, there is a possibility that you will find the coffee made from it is best. That is why consider the best color of your coffee maker.
Consider those with Coffee Grinders
If possible, try to pick a coffee maker that has a coffee grinder attached with it. But if you wish to do so, make sure you only pick that has a burr or blade grinder, as these two types have better grinding features. So why do you need these grinders? The coffee beans are not uniformly grounded in other grinders. So try to look for the coffee maker that has capability of grinding the coffee beans as it will help you to create a great tasting cup of coffee.

Three Questions to Answer Before Buying Restaurant Equipment
The key to building a restaurant brand with staying power is not only creating your competitive edge but also keeping it. Obviously many things go into making that happen, but for your customers it always comes back to the food and the right restaurant equipment makes great food possible.
As our economy is quickly changing so are the likes and dislikes of our clients. When purchasing restaurant equipment, you will need to decide if it is possible to use existing equipment behind the line to adapt to the emerging trends in today’s fierce competition for the consumer dollar. If you are in the restaurant industry, I do not need to tell you that everything about the restaurant industry has changed, is changing and will continue to change. With this being said, it is imperative to become one of the success stories you will need to be the quickest and the best at adapting and keeping your food fresh. As a restaurateur, we need to look into our crystal ball and ask ourselves if the equipment we purchase today has the flexibility to meet the unforeseen needs that could be in front of us.
Use these three simple rules when researching your next piece of restaurant equipment prior to making your purchase:
1. Is the piece of restaurant equipment easy to use? Add-ons and extra features may sound like a good idea but what does it deliver to the operation and the customer aside from extra parts? Are training times increased, is the through-put time getting longer with additional steps and options, and are these extras just more things to repair? One-touch simplicity is the name of the game throughout our fast-casual concepts, which helps maintain efficiency levels during peak periods.
2. What is the quality of the restaurant equipment and what is its output? The least expensive equipment is not always the best choice when you factor in the output. Many of us do not want to hear this in these tight economic times. Be real about what the output will be for the dollars that you are spending. Although you may be a fast-casual operation, faster is not the goal. Faster is a result of developing a winning system using quality restaurant equipment products that allow us to present great food.
3. Will the through-put of this machine meet your goals and expectations? So far, you have determined that the piece of restaurant equipment is easy to use, of high quality but it needs to answer the question of can it reliably serve the needs of 400 consumers during a lunch rush? Assuming that you are not in business to turn people away, your restaurant equipment MUST be able to deliver.
A lot of time and effort must go into purchasing a piece of restaurant equipment. The decision is a big commitment and will help you to determine the success or failure of your venture. You will receive better results if you are able to build good relationships with your suppliers as they will be able to guide you in the right direction. With this being said, DO NOT solely rely on what they say as gospel as what is best for your facility. Remember, it is still your decision to make.

Coffee Pods: Single Serving Perfection
Freshly Roasted, Ground And Put Into A Paper Packet
Most coffee lovers will agree that nothing beats the taste of percolated coffee. Especially the wonderful smell when it is brewed first thing in the morning. It is this reason why so many people are turning to the relatively new sensation of coffee pods. The taste of fresh coffee changes considerably from the often used dry instant coffee.
The aroma alone tells you that the coffee is not fresh and therefore you will automatically know that you are not getting the best out of coffee. Most coffee machines are relatively cheap these days and you don’t have to spend a pretty penny just because you want the real taste of coffee. It seems that with ethical issues on the rise most people are opting for the fair trade coffee pods.
People often want to shy away from coffee pods or coffee making machines because they have a concern that it might take too long or is rather expensive. Fortunately these concerns can be viewed as myths as anyone can enjoy freshly ground java.
The convenience and ease of making coffee that is delivered by the coffee pod makes it a must have for all coffee lovers. For the morning rush you can put on a fresh cup using your coffee pods just before you go shower so you can have a fresh cup waiting when you’re done. Automated coffee-making machines are standard equipment in most homes these days. Now you can customize your daily brew to coincide with your mood by taking advantage of single serving coffee makers. They wake you up to the wonderful smell of coffee aromas. So there is no excuse for missing out.
Gourmet Espresso In Coffee Pods
The love of coffee absolutely extends to the wonderful taste of espresso. So it’s clear why so many people are keen on these coffee pods. There are a couple of different types of pods systems out there for you to choose from. The first is the Senseo pod system which uses a single serving, pre-measured coffee filled filter to make the perfect cup whenever you like. Another popular single serving system is Keurig brewing system. Their patented K-cups deliver over 130 varieties of gourmet coffee in less than 60 seconds. Plus there is no mess to clean up. The coffee club fanatics hail the coffee pod and k-cup systems as the greatest invention since coffee machines and it is not hard to see why.
Once you have had a taste of great gourmet coffee, especially espresso coffee, you might find it hard to drink anything else for your morning cup of joe. It can be sometimes hard to get the espresso right as it entails so many components such as water temperature, perfect grind and so on. However with the coffee pods even the most inexperienced coffee maker will perform like a professional. It is not hard to understand why the coffee pods are a hit on the coffee scene in a big way.

Diabetic Chocolates
For those who just found out that they are diabetic or simply want to go low-carbohydrate in their diet the hardest things to give up are pasta and breads. As a few of my diabetic friends and relatives have said those foods are a main part of their diet. So that leads to finding sugar-free alternates that taste good. Being diabetic doesn’t mean that you have to give up on you favorite foods like pasta. There has been recent studies on soluble fiber to help in that dilemma. Soluble fiber has been shown to slow down digestion so therefore it allows for the slower absorption of glucose giving beneficial effects on those with diabetes. Soluble fiber also helps in weight loss because it prolongs the fullness feeling in digestion.
So companies that specialize in sugar-free foods to give people that have to be more aware of how much carbohydrates they consume more choices in food.
So companies that make sugar-free pasta have turned to using soluble fiber in their pasta took bring back pasta that diabetics miss.
Pasta is just one of many things that diabetics once again can enjoy now that more food producing companies are aware of the need and demand.
There are sugar-free peanut butters, jellies and whole host of other foods that are sugar-free and safe for diabetics to enjoy.
To go with your pasta for a start there is Walden Farms who have come up with a whole line of sauces like marina, fettuccine, barbecue sauces and ketchup that are sugar-free. So once again you can enjoy food with flavor.
Next on the list is breads that people miss.
Back in 2003, Holsum Bakery, Inc had added a new line to their breads, it is Aunt Hattie’s sugar-free and 100% whole grain wheat bread.
If you like to make your own baked goods then here is something that would be of interest to you, Carbquick. This product can be used in the same recipes as Bisquik but without 90% of the carbohydrates.
For those of you who are sensitive to the polyols there are some products which contain no sugar and have no sugar alcohols.
Carbsmart has a whole line of products that contain no sugar alcohols designed for those who have digestive problems when they consume products that contain sugar alcohols like maltitol. Another such line is Dixie Carb Counters.
As today’s society are getting more aware of the problems that a high carbohydrate diet can lead to. The demand for safe alternatives to favorite foods is growing.
As one can see not just the candy industry is trying to cut carbohydrates out for our loved ones that are on restricted diets. As well as for those who desire to go low-carbohydrate to prevent problems later.
And speaking of candy lets not forget the downfall of a lot of diabetics and other diet restricted people.
Yes, I am talking about CHOCOLATE!
Don’t worry though a lot of the candy companies that produce that particular sweet have you covered. The only problem it seems is choosing the chocolate that appeals to you or the diabetic chocoholic in your life.

Different Types of Chocolates
When people think of chocolate no two people are the same
Most chocolates that people are familiar with are dark, milk, white, semi-sweet, and maybe sugar-free.
But there are so many more out there.
Take AERATED chocolate for instance. It usually dark or white chocolate where air bubbles are introduced to the chocolate as it is being made.
And then there is FILLED Chocolate. It is a chocolate that additives were added. Things like nuts, jelly pieces, dried fruits and even cereals.
As for Organic, it is made from the raw material that the farmers produce.
In the 1990′s chocolates with a high content of cocoa became very popular in Europe. The content of cocoa was 40-60%. Now some producers make chocolate ranging from 70 to 85%. There are even some that contain 99%!
Here is a list of unknown or unimagined chocolates.
Raw or Roasted Cacao— this the whole cacao bean minus the shell.
Cacao Nibs—this the broken up pieces of the bean.
Ground Cacao—as the name suggests it’s the bean ground up.
It is the healthiest form of chocolate there is however it can be quite bitter to the taste.
Chocolate Liquor— Unlike what it’s name may suggest there is no alcohol added. This how chocolate starts. Producers start by grinding cacao nibs into a liquid paste in which nothing is added. It has about 53% cocoa butter at this stage.
Unsweetened Chocolate—this what people use to bake with. It is sometimes referred as pure or bitter chocolate. It contains at least 35% chocolate liquor. There is cocoa and sugar in various amounts. There really no difference between bittersweet and semi-sweet chocolate. Often times they are referred as dark chocolate. The chocolate bittersweet or semi-sweet (the type baked with) is sweetened by adding cocoa liquor without adding the cocoa butter.
Sweet Chocolate—this chocolate is sometimes mistaken for bittersweet. The reason being that it contains at least 15% chocolate liquor in which cocoa butter and sugar is added in various amounts.
Milk Chocolate: This chocolate contains at least 10% chocolate liquor then cocoa butter and sugar is added in various amounts then at least 12% milk, cream, or milk powder is added.
White Chocolate: technically isn’t considered a type of chocolate since it doesn’t contain chocolate liquor. But it must have at least 20% cocoa butter and 14% milk with sugar added in various amounts. No wonder my white fudge never turns out!
Cocoa powder— is really cocoa powder or unsweetened cocoa.
Then the last on my list is Dutched Chocolate.
It is formed by washing cocoa powder in an alkali solution of Potassium Carbonate. This wash darkens the color and neutralizes acidity of the cocoa powder. Cocoa that is very alkalized is called Black cocoa. This is the chocolate used in Oreo cookies.
In short the use and types of chocolate just depends on the imagination of the producers. Then in turn the consumer who is using the chocolate. Well I can say for this, my imagination turned to making white chocolate fudge and as I stated earlier it didn’t turn out. OH,well back to the drawing board. I haven’t given up.
