Basic Rye Bread

1 cup water — plus
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 cup medium-ground rye flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
3/4 teaspoon caraway seed, whole or powdered
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Place all ingredients in your machine in the order recommended by your
machine’s manufacturer. Select the Whole Wheat, Grain, Basic or White
cycle and press start.
This recipe yields 1 loaf.
